A lot of clients who come to AutoEffects want to improve the performance of their audio systems. Modern vehicles often have information and control systems built into the same center console control center as the radio. This can make replacing the factory radio impossible. The question is, how can we improve the performance of the audio system? It’s not a problem at all. Here’s why.
When it comes to factory audio systems, quite simply, they don’t offer very good bass response, if any at all. We can easily add a subwoofer system to your factory radio. Some vehicles offer a full-range audio signal, and some have a dedicated subwoofer output that we can use.
The addition of an appropriate amplifier and a subwoofer or two will add significant impact and realism to your music. Just as almost every home theater system features a subwoofer, having one in your car can make a dramatic difference.
Listen to Me!
The next upgrade we often perform is the addition of an amplifier for the existing speakers in the car. Even the so-called “premium” factory systems don’t have as much power as they claim. We can add a high-quality, high-power amplifier to the signal that comes out of your factory radio or factory amplifier. Sometimes we need to combine multiple signals – but our installation staff are experts in vehicle integration, so that is not a problem.
The limiting factor in how loud most factory car audio systems will play is the amount of power they have. Radios don’t produce much more than 21 watts. Even the smallest of aftermarket amplifiers has twice as much as that, and many are four or five times as powerful. Good, clean power will let you turn up your music and enjoy it.
Speak To Me
Once your system has adequate power, the next logical upgrade is your speakers. Speakers are the most important part of any audio system in terms of its perceived quality. The best radio, amplifiers and processors in the world still won’t sound very good if your system doesn’t have great speakers. Why do we upgrade speakers last? Most high-end speakers are a little less efficient than inexpensive speakers. This means we need the power from a good amplifier to make quality speakers sound good.
Our installation technicians take the utmost care to ensure that each and every speaker is installed in the optimum position for the best performance. We can even add a layer of Soundskins sound-deadening to make your car quieter and your speakers sound even better.
